Hervé Labrot’s motivation .

Brigitte Camus

Hervé Labrot uses his shots and line drawings to create digital images around a predefined theme. The result is successful especially as his art is not meaningless.

Taste is the enemy of creativity

(Pablo Picasso)

Decoration is not Art so I daub with joy.

First, he develops a concept in images: His favorite : social criticism. Excellent when he mixes humor with an ironic or acerbic look at our faults.

This artist does not hesitate to make fun of him like in his work « the Painter ». However, he does not omit the references to his masters such as Magritte. (He lived in Belgium)

His universe, which is a narrative post-figuration or a post -new realism, is tinged with surrealism and a very pleasing Oulipian side: the verve of an artist who does not take himself seriously but who progresses in his research with application and professionalism.

He put all the odds in his favor

Hervé Labrot has managed to combine humor and singularity. In the first place: thwarted from an early age in his desire for artistic training, he ultimately opts for architectural studies which very quickly, he was bored.

Work : It is the refuge of people who have nothing better to do.

(Oscar Wilde)

Thanks to a stay in Belgium, our artist discovered a passion for professional photography. In addition, two decades later, after long hours in the darkroom, digital technology is reaching out to him. What is new attracts him like a magnet; he then abandoned the silver process.

The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil but by those who neglect progress .

(Eduard Einstein)

Then, Hervé Labrot, at leisure combines photographs, line drawings, color schemes in order to bring his thoughts to life and make them known. For this, various exhibitions in Germany, the Benelux and finally in France. His vision of the society is not commun and totally in respect to this new century

Some, to shine in society, would eat shoe polish.

(Coluche)

The Senate is nothing but a retirement home for the politically privileged. A senator; it’s just a stubborn deputy.

• This is how a vehement social criticism is shown through realistic, ironic and daring compositions.

• The artist disrupts codes and triggers a vision of Beings, Places and things with keen intelligence.

Hervé Labrot combines the seduction of comics and the creative pamphlet with an unusual power.

His art is poetic, acerbic or dramatic but always captivating thanks to his vision of a new Art that he provides

Contemporary Hybridisations

First, let’s study the artistic journey of this artist.

Hervé Labrot opts for a mix of shots coupled with a graphic palette. The result obtained is coated on canvas or cotton paper.

The result generates a language of its own.

For the artist; thought and language are the instruments of an Art .

(Oscar Wilde)

Uncertainty is the most difficult torment of all to endure (Alfred de Musset)

Nevertheless, in France, the citizen is frightened by anything which represents an atypical aspect; hybrid or difficult to contain in one box. This prejudice does not spare Hervé Labrot. However, the important thing for this artist is to have something to say as Pablo Picasso pointed out.

This man created a feeling for others as well as for him.

This little something would have captured the attention of the surrealist artistes; these great players who love to blast reality to make it say what it is hiding from us.

This little something would have captured the attention of the surrealist artistes; these great players who love to blast reality to make it say what it is hiding from us.

On the one hand, this artist is not satisfied with a concept that is too narrow.

On the other hand, he is a maverick who casts a sharp, distant and critical look on today’s world.

In short, he knows the benefits of progress, assesses its limits; especially in terms of ethics and behavioral standards.

As a result: the maintenance of memory, the spirit of resistance and moral conscience are its precious data.

Therefore, in this world of limitless profit and questionable morals, this information must be saved to save humanity from an inevitable disaster.

That said; our artist adopts the posture of the watchman and the lucid man analysing the hidden part of the messages received from advertisment, politics, propaganda and financial imperialist. These are distilled to us every day like a toxic cloud.

You know: from a certain amount of money, the rest is superfluous .
